Sponsor the VISAR Volunteers for their Marathon run.......
From the brave souls running the Chicago Marathon:
On Sunday 11th October at 0730 we will be attempting to run and complete the Chicago Marathon. Along with 45,000 others, we will be hoping to complete the distance of 26 miles, 385 yards or 42.195 Kilometers!
"It has been a while since I ran that far, 9 years ago actually, when I was much younger and fitter! So completing this marathon will be no easy feat and I can honestly say I am not looking forward to it! However, to make the pain worthwhile, we are asking for sponsorship to raise money for VISAR." Paul Hubbard, VISAR's Tortola Respsonder Rep.
Mark Sanders, VISAR Helm, is raising money specifically to purchase 2 satellite phones, he is already almost at his target amount. His hope is to secure a year of Air time from the phone company too as a donation. The benefit of the Satellite phone will be the ability to always have communication from the Rescue boat to the Base regardless of distance from land.
Adele Perrot, VISAR Medic and Eric Sywak, PR Chairman & responder are both running for VISAR too. VISAR is always in need of updated equipment and training and this is another way our dedicated volunteers are helping us to help ourselves.
For a general donation or a specific gift you can either pledge though this website and your paypal account -
or email the office directly visar@surfbvi.com, however large or small, all will be greatly appreciated and your support will encourage me on the day - trust us, we will need all the help we can get!
You can monitor our progress on the day by checking out the marathon website at- www.chicagomarathon.com/cms400Min/chicago_marathon/spectators_volunteers/index.asp
Thank you for your support.
