Missing crew member
VISAR was alerted to a missing persons report at Norman Island. Witnesses watched the 2 crew members leave a local business in an inflatable dinghy. The morning of the 30th only one crew member could be located. The crew started a search of the immediate area including the entire boat, boats in the harbour and surrounding area. After a fruitless search the crew called VISAR and Spirit was launched at 1025. Alongside BVI Marine Police, US coast Guard and local dive company, the immediate and surrounding areas and shoreline searches were conducted. First day the BVI Marine Police took over at lunch time, as it became an investigation.

1st February - Search continues
Full search patterns were conducted, with weather and current taken into account. Throughout the day VISAR worked alongside the BVI Marine Police and full cooperation from the captain and crew of the vessel the missing person. With a mid day change of crew, Spirit searched all day returning to base at 1630.

5th Feb - search concluded
US Virgin Islands Police made a discovery ashore in St John, further tests to be completed before confirmation.
