US Coast Guard called the duty coordinator to report an EPIRB in the vicinity of Peter Island. The name of the boat the EPIRB was registered to, the VISAR coordinator called know owners and traced the boat (with name change and working route) The skipper was asked to check the EPIRB and it was indeed on! Due to the skipper having a problem silencing the EPIRB the USCG did not stand down until the code from the equipment was confirmed. Coordinator called with the code and the USCG stood down at 1024
