Time of Call: 1946, Time of Launch:
The US Coast Guard had an EPIRB hit in the Virgin gorda Yacht Harbour vicinity. The vessel name was given and 2 VISAR crew members walked the docks asking boat names and for those aboard each vessel to check their EPIRBS were turned off. There were approximately 12 visiting boats in. After checking the local boat yard, Gorda Peak was launched and searche dthe anchorage to no avail. USCG were informed and Gorda Peak stood down.
16th July USCG called with new coordinates and new boat name. Though the captain spoek directly to Coast Guard personel and confirmed by ID numbers it was indeed his EPIRB. Gorda Peak crew stood down satisfied there was nno boat or persons in danger.
