BVI Information
The British Virgin Islands comprises some 56 islands, rocks and cays, of which less than 20 are inhabited, forming part of the West Indies at the northern extremity of the Leeward Islands in the eastern Caribbean. The islands are volcanic in origin, with the exception of Anegada, which is formed of coral and limestone and is the lowest lying island in the archipelago. The islands are situated in one of the finest sailing areas in the world.

Weather
The weather in the British Virgins is typically reliably Carribean, with daily highs varying between around 25° (77°F) in winter and 28°C (82°F) in summer. Trade winds keep humidity low and Caribbean currents keep waters warm. The hurricane season officially runs from June through until the end of November although, in the absence of a hurricane, even during the wettest months of August through October, we average only about five days of rain each month.
There are many excellent resources available on the web for weather information. The British Virgin Islands is very lucky to have Sara Sommers, a VISAR volunteer and deputy coordinator, who operates www.weathercarib.com for a complete and very detailed round up of weather information for the British Virgin Islands, the Caribbean and the Atlantic basin. If sailing or surfing is your thing, www.windguru.com provides a detailed summary and 7-day forecast of wind and wave conditions for the local region.
